FAQs

LASH EXTENSIONS

What are eyelash extensions?

A process in which a single natural eyelash is isolated and a faux lash or hand-made volume fan is applied to the top of your own natural eyelash approximately 1 mm from the eyelid so neither the glue or the lash has contact with the skin. Lash extensions can only be applied to your natural lashes, not your skin.

Does it hurt?

No, eyelash extensions are painless. Most clients feel comfortable enough to fall asleep during the procedure. At Mia’s beautique, we use superior quality products to bring the highest level of comfort possible for our clients.

How long does it take to apply a full set of lash extensions?

The application process usually takes about 1hr 30 minutes - 3hours.

What do I need to do before my appointment?

Please arrive with no makeup on or around the eye area. When removing makeup around the eyes, use a mild cleanser and avoid using moisturizers, sunscreen, and removers that have oil-based formulas. Lashes must be clean for the adhesive to bond properly.

How long do lash extensions last?

The lash extensions will stay on anywhere from 2 to 5 weeks. The bond life depends on many things such as: Proper after care, proper preparation, and proper application. Due to the lashes growth cycle, refills must be applied to fill in the gaps from the natural lashes that have fallen out.

What can I do to make my extensions last longer?

Do not get the extensions wet for the first 12 hours after your appointment, keep out of any steam rooms/saunas/swimming pools to give the adhesive sufficient time to bond to the natural lash. Avoid vigorous rubbing of the eyes or tugging at your lashes. Do not use oil-based makeup or makeup removers. Please refer to our LASH CARE section for more information.

What is a fill?

A refill consists of the lash artist going through the lashes to remove grown out lash extensions and add new extensions.

How long does a fill take?

Refills usually take 50 mins to 2hours and do not require as much effort as full application.

Will lash extensions damage my natural lash?

No. With skilled application, normal maintenance and care, the lash extensions will not damage your natural lash. They will grow out with your natural lash growth cycle.

How can lash extensions be removed?

Please do not try to remove lash extensions yourself. You will end up pulling out your natural lashes if you pick or pull on the extensions. We apply a special gel on to the extensions, it is made to weaken the bond of the glue. No damage is done to your natural lashes.

Are they permanent?

Lash extensions are semi-permanent. Your natural lashes grow and shed at their own pace which is why you need to get them filled every 2-3 weeks.

Do you fill in other lash artist's work?

Yes, however in person consultation and assessment is required. If the previous lashes were not up to standard quality, then they require removal + new set. Poor quality lashes/application will not accepted

What types of lashes?

We use high-quality faux mink / silk / cashmere lashes.

How can I wash them/what do I use?

YOU NEED TO WASH YOUR LASHES. An extension safe foam cleanser and a fluffy soft eyeshadow brush. Use circular motions and rinse well. NEVER BRUSH YOUR LASHES WET. Pat them dry.

Can people with straight lashes get lash extensions?

Yes we offer different lash curls and styles custom made for your lash type.

Can I still wear makeup/mascara?

We do not recommend wearing mascara since it is very difficult to remove from the extensions without pulling at your natural eyelashes. Please use oil-free cosmetics when removing makeup close to the eye area while wearing eyelash extensions.

Can I use an eyelash curler to curl my lash extensions?

No, an eyelash curler will break the bond on your extensions and will damage your natural eyelashes.

Do you do bottom lashes?

We are not offering bottom lash extensions as of now.

FAQs

LASH LIFT + TINT

What is a Lash Lift?

A lash lift is a chemical process that is used to change the structure and texture of the lashes. Depending on the size of the shield used, the lashes can be lifted more or less dramatically. A lash lift is essentially a modern version of a lash perm without the perming rods.

What is a Lash Tint?

Think of eyelash tinting like getting your roots touched up. The dye will intensify your natural lashes by darkening them and adding definition to the eye. The dye itself is similar to what you use on your hair, except it's specifically developed to be safe around the eye area

Is a Lash Lift the same as an eyelash perm?

No the Lash lift is a new, improved procedure, overcoming the ‘over curled’ look of its predecessor . Whilst the chemical procedure is identical to a perm, the difference is in the results. By ditching the old fashioned perm rollers which curled back the lashes to the extent of the ‘dolly look’, the silicone pads used for this new procedure lifts the lash from the root in either a straight or curled, upwards fashion that produces length and a bright eyed enhanced look.

Does the Lash Lift procedure hurt?

No the procedure is totally painless. You will have your eyes closed for the entire treatment and although it may feel a little strange being unable to open your eyes for this time, it offers you a chance to relax during the treatment.

Is the procedure safe?

Yes. Lashes are lifted onto our specially shaped lifting pads before products are applied.

Will the Lash Lift damage my natural lashes?

No. Select a carefully trained and skilled Professional to ensure proper Lash Lift procedures are followed

How long does a lash lift take?

A lash lift takes around an hour

How long will a Lash Lift last?

A Lash Lift can last 6-8 weeks but can vary from person to person. There is no need for any maintenance appointments in between but you will need to have the process repeated every 6-8 weeks to lift the new hair growth. There are some situations that may cause the lift to drop/weaken prematurely such as swimming, use off harsh products or heat. If you find that your lift does not last the full 2 months, you can repeat the treatment after a minimum of 4 weeks of having the initial treatment, but not before.

I wear contact lenses, can I have this procedure?

Yes. However, we will ask you to remove them temporarily during the treatment as the eyes will be closed throughout.

Can I wear makeup after my lash lift?

Yes but it is advised that you leave your lashes untouched for at least 24 hours after your treatment. You may find that there is no need for mascara anyway, but if you wish to make your lashes even fuller, a non-waterproof mascara is advised as the removal of waterproof mascaras can be harsh on the lashes and weaken the lift.

How do I clean my eyes?

Gently, using mild products. Always wait 24 hours to do this, straight after the procedure.

Can I use an eyelash curler?

No. There will be no need for an eyelash curler as this treatment gives a much better result than using a curler, But more importantly, using one may weaken and damage your lashes.

How often can I have a lash lift?

A lash lift will begin to naturally drop after about 2 months and your lashes will be back to their natural look. The lashes should drop evenly and will not look out of place. You can repeat the treatment after a minimum of one month if you feel you need to, or you can wait until they are back to their natural state.
